Today April 4,1968 was the beginning of a recon patrol , from 3rd Recon Battalion in RVN. It Consisted of 8 Marines and 1 Navy Hospital Corpsman. We left Camp Carroll on the Morning of the 4th, and reached our objective on the afternoon of April 5,1968. when all the dust and smoke from the initial fire fight cleared 2nd LT. Donald Matocha lay dead from gun shot wounds, three other Marines were also wounded along with one Navy Hospital Corpsman. I salute you Team "Dallas Girl", and the family of LT. Donald Matocha. May we all live in peace and put the fears and anguishes into the past but remember all that have given there life and blood for this Great Country.
